Rohan Murty, the son of Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murty, got married to Aparna Krishnan, the daughter of Kochi-based Savithri Krishnan, a retired SBI employee, and Commander KR Krishnan, a former Indian Navy officer in a traditional ceremony in Bengaluru on Monday. Several close family members and long-time friends attended it.
The wedding reception was organised at the same venue. The occasion provided for a gracious get-together for the Infosys co-founders and executives who have worked closely with Infosys chief. cC-founders of Infosys, Nandan Nilekani, SD Shibulal, ‘Kris’ Gopalakrishnan and CEO Salil Parekh, K Dinesh and V Balakrishnan, and former CFO Mavinakere Ranganath graced the occasion and blessed the newlywed.
Rohan’s aunts and uncle Shrinivas Kulkarni who is a professor of astronomy at Caltech, and sister Akshata, personally received the guests. Rohan and his parents were personally introducing guests to the newest member of their family. Akshata’s family members and relatives of Aparna were also part of the celebrations.

Several friends of the Murthy family, including Enam Group founder Vallabh Bhansali, Mastek founder Ashank Desai, Fields Medal recipient and mathematician Manjul Bhargava were in attendance. Other guests included family members like Rohan’s sister Akshata Murty, and ace badminton coach Prakash Padukone.
Popular Carnatic vocalist Bombay Jayashree further lifted spirits, her magical voice enthralling guests at the reception in the evening.
The couple, who met through common friends, knew each other for three years before they decided to take the big step.
Thirty-six-year-old Rohan Murty has a PhD in Computer Science from Harvard University. He is a Junior Fellow at the Society of Fellows of the University. He is also the second computer science scientist to be honoured by the University after Marvin Minsky, who is the father of artificial intelligence. Rohan’s PhD thesis on the use of white spaces (spectrum) is considered path-breaking.
The bride, Aparna, did her schooling in India initially. Later she got a scholarship for her high-school education from the United World College in Canada. She has a degree in economics from Dartmouth College. She has worked at McKinsey and Sequoia Capital in India. Her sister is married to Kartik Hosanagar, who is a technology professor at the Wharton School in the US. Aparna’s has been working at Soroco, a computer software company founded in 2014 by Rohan, like the Engagement Manager from April 2017.
Aparna opted for an elegant white lehenga with colourful floral embroidery. She did her hair in a bun, accessorised with pink roses. Meanwhile, Cornell-alumnus Rohan kept it simple in a coffee-coloured kurta and black pants for the reception.
The 73-year-old IT stalwart, Nagavara Ramarao Narayana Murthy gave his son company, opting for a plain kurta paired with black pants. Author and mother of the groom, Sudha Murty choose a beige saree with a blue and gold zari border, and daughter Akshata Murty opted for a blue saree for the reception.
